ICT - a force for change in education

At the end of September started the implementation of the project “ ICT- a force for change in education”. It covers the cross-border region of Bulgaria and Romania. Its implementation is joint action from specialists from both countries. Lead partner is Eurointegra Association, together with secondary school Vasil Levski -Glavnica ,secondary school Emilian Stanev -Veliko Tarnovo, Mathematic secondary school Baba Tonka-Rousse. From the Romanian side will take part Theoretic secondary school “Mihai Eminescu”-Clarasi and all-educational school “Alecsandru Odobescu”- Lehliu Gara. Partners in the implementation of the project are Association Access and School inspectorate in Calarasi. The duration of the project is 18 months- begging from 23 September 2011 to 23 March 2013. Its implementation is supported by Cross Border Cooperation Romania-Bulgaria 2007-2013, Financed from the European Union by the European Regional Development Fund.

Goals of the project:

The main goal is the benefits of investment in ICT in education to be revealed and a good model of cross border cooperation to be shown and team-working in achieving European standards.

During the implementation of the project 10 scientific studies will be entirely refurnished and equipped. The investments will be done in 6 schools: 

- Secondary school Emilian Stanev -Veliko Tarnovo – 2 studies

- Mathematic secondary school Baba Tonka -Rousse – 2 studies

- Secondary school Vasil Levski-Glavinica – 2 studies

- School “Nikolae Titulesku” Calarasi - 2 studies

- Theoretic secondary school “Mihai Eminescu” Clarasi - 1 study

- all-educational school “Alecsandru Odobescu” - Lehliu Gara – 1 study

The equipment will include white multimedia boards, spotlights, laptops for the teachers and personal computers for the students for each study. All studies will be furnished with new furniture. The new equipment will be network provided. During the implementation of the project will be digitalized the teaching over two school classes- mathematics and biology for 9-th grade. It is expected to be created electronic form as a substitute to the expensive teaching books.

Activities:

Creating and introducing the segments of the teaching system 

The development of the segments for the electronic education will be established according to the approved technical assignment and will be created 40 digital lessons- 20 in mathematics and 20 in biology.

The project includes organization of seminars for the teachers- 3 from each school and 3 from each school activity. 

Organization of seminars

It is expected to be held 3 seminars aiming the connection of 3 large floats of students, included in the school process.

Expert- teachers

- Authorized municipal representatives- mayors, executive experts and managers from the education sectors from the target municipalities.

Bulgarian-Romanian seminar of the experts in Calarasi

The seminar will be held within 3 days and will include visits of the 3 Romanian schools and the school inspectorate in Calarasi. Team meatings will be held between  teachers from the selected schools with Bulgarian and Romanian experts in education and with the Bulgarian and Romanian local authorities.

Demonstrational lessons

It is expected 6 demonstrational lessons to be held in schools in Veliko Tarnovo, Rousse and Glavinica. The lessons will be held by Romanian teachers, taking part in the project  and their Bulgarian partners will assist. The Romanian teachers will demonstrate their experience and skills using ICT in teaching  biology and mathematics. The lessons will be open and for the municipal representatives, experts in education, parents and local and public representatives of the media. 

Joint educational days “Let’s learn together”

In the frames of the project it is expected to be held 4 joint learning lessons under the motto “Let’s learn together”. Altogether 436 9th grade students from the 6 schools in Bulgaria will take part in 4 joint learning days, which will be dedicated to the usage of ICT in every day  school life. The joint learning days will remain as foundation for the development of the future professional network exchange of experience, information and good practices in the schools for secondary education of the cross border region.  

Results:

The project expects to be calculated and analyzed the influence of ICT investment over the process of education and teaching. In the frames of the joint Bulgarian-Romanian activity will be explored the teaching methods and the attitude of the teachers and students toward innovation. This research is important because it would show the benefits of the electronic education. The researches will cover the regions of Glavinica,Veliko Tarnovo and Rousse, which would contribute to the getting of clear picture over the developed as well as over the backward regions. 

The Bulgarian participants will be informed about  how the way of usage of the ICT can be key instrument in accomplishing  equality of the educated as for the developed as well as for the village regions.
